A trailer has been released for Hitchcock/Truffaut (2015), the latest from documentary filmmaker Kent Jones.

Combining a trove of filmmakers, from David Fincher to Wes Anderson and Martin Scorsese, the film delves into the legacy of a book that came as a result of how, in 1962, “Master of Suspense” Alfred Hitchcock and French New Wave progenitor François Truffaut spent a week discussing at length the secrets behind mise-en-scène in cinema.

The product of this lengthy discussion was the book ‘Hitchcock/Truffaut’, which is still seen to this day as one of the most insightful explorations of cinematic language ever published. It also explores the productions of a handful of Hitchcock’s most acclaimed films, including Vertigo (1958), Psycho (1960) and The Birds (1963).

This fascinating documentary notes how the tome continues to capture the imaginations of some of the finest filmmakers working today, as well as highlighting the enduring gratifications of the study of cinema.

Hitchcock/Truffaut is released in UK cinemas 4 March 2016
